ABOUT US

Fred Seifried developed a passion for shooting at a young age when he would shoot BB guns at his friend Jim’s house. Even then, he learned and enforced the three fundamental firearms safety rules:

1. "Always keep guns pointed in a safe direction.

2. "Always keep your finger off the trigger until you are ready to shoot."

3. "Always keep the gun unloaded until you are ready to use it."

In 1991, Fred joined the New York State University Police Department at Stony Brook University. By 1994, he had become a New York State Police General Topics Instructor and Firearms Instructor, serving as one of the department's first firearms instructors. Alongside his role as a firearms instructor, Fred also served as the department’s armorer from 1994 to 2002. He has held certifications in Simunitions Training, Glock Armorer, Smith & Wesson and Ruger Revolver Armorer, as well as Smith & Wesson Firearms Program Management and Handgun Retention Instructor.

After retiring from the New York State Department of Labor as an investigator in 2022, Fred reignited his passion for shooting. Following the Supreme Court's Bruen decision and subsequent changes to New York State firearms licensing laws, he decided it was time to return to firearms instruction.

In 2023, Fred became a National Rifle Association (NRA) certified Basics of Pistol Shooting Instructor, NRA CCW Instructor, and Range Safety Officer.

Fred is enthusiastic about sharing his expert knowledge with individuals looking to obtain their first pistol license, upgrade to a CCW license, or improve their shooting skills.
