NRA CCW-NYS CCIA COURSE

 

THE COST OF THE CLASS IS $500.00 PER STUDENT.  A DEPOSIT OF $250.00 IS REQUIRED.  THE BALANCE IS DUE PRIOR TO THE START OF THE CLASS.  ALL DEPOSITS AND PAYMENTS ARE NON-REFUNDABLE.  STUDENTS MAY APPLY THE DEPOSITS AND PAYMENTS TO ANOTHER CLASS WITHIN 12 MONTHS IF IT IS NECESSARY TO CANCEL.

 

Students who register for the CCW Training Class will receive a brief survey to complete and an invoice via email.

 

The NRA CCW-NYS CCIA Course is designed to meet and exceed the requirements set forth in the New York Concealed Carry Improvement Act (CCIA) of 2022. The course consists of 16 hours of classroom instruction and 2 hours of live fire range instruction. The curriculum consists of the following topics Mandated by New York State:

  1. General Firearms Safety

  2. Firearms Storage Requirements

  3. New York State and Federal Gun Laws

  4. Concealed Carry Situational Awareness

  5. Conflict De-Escalation Tactics

  6. Adverse Effects of Drugs and Alcohol Use as it Pertains to Firearm Safety

  7. Best Practices When Encountering Law Enforcement While Carrying a Concealed Firearm

  8. Statutorily Defined Sensitive Places Listed in New York State Penal Law §265.01-e and the Restrictions on Firearm Possession in Restricted Places under Penal Law §265.01-d.

  9. Conflict Management

  10. Use of Deadly Physical Force pursuant to New York Penal Law §35.15(2).

  11. Suicide Prevention

  12. Basic Principles of Marksmanship

NOTE-ABSOLUTELY NO LIVE AMMUNITION IS ALLOWED IN THE CLASSROOM

Students will take and pass a written test to obtain an NRA Basic CCW Completion Certificate and a written test to obtain a New York State CCIA Completion Certificate.  In addition, students will take and pass the New York State Mandated live fire course and the NRA CCW exercises.  All instruction is conducted by an NRA Certified Instructor.

ALL STUDENTS WILL RECEIVE NRA REFERENCE BOOKS INCLUDED WITH THE COST OF THE COURSE.

ALL Students MUST already have a New York State Pistol License in order to be eligible to attend the course.

NASSAU COUNTY RESIDENTS "...Applicants or existing pistol license holders seeking a Concealed Carry License must first make a written request in person at the Pistol License Section counter. At that point you will receive a letter of instruction detailing requirements you must comply with. There may be additional requisites over and above the following New York State mandates" ( Nassau County Police Department Pistol License Section Handbookp. 14).

SUFFOLK COUNTY RESIDENTS MUST HAVE A VALID PISTOL LICENSE IN ORDER TO ATTEND THE NRA CCW-NYS CCIA COURSE.

STUDENTS WHO HAVE A VALID NEW YORK STATE PISTOL LICENSE AND OWN THEIR OWN FIREARMS MUST PROVIDE THE FOLLOWING AND BRING THE FOLLOWING WITH THEM TO CLASS:

  • VALID NEW YORK STATE ISSUED ID (E.G. DRIVERS LICENSE)

  • VALID NEW YORK STATE PISTOL PERMIT

  • EYE PROTECTION-SUITABLE FOR THE RANGE

  • EAR PROTECTION-SUITABLE FOR THE RANGE

  • CONCEALABLE FIREARM (MUST BE IN GOOD WORKING CONDITION)

  • 100 ROUNDS OF FACTORY TARGET AMMUNITION-ONLY ON THE DAY ASSIGNED FOR LIVE FIRE SHOOTING

  • CONCEALED CARRY HOLSTER (EITHER INSIDE THE WAISTBAND (IWB) OR OUTSIDE THE WAISTBAND (OWB) (APPENDIX, SMALL OF THE BACK, SHOULDER, POCKET BOOK OR FANNY PACK HOLSTERS ARE NOT PERMITTED ON THE RANGE FOR INSTRUCTION OR QUALIFICATION)

  • STURDY BELT FOR HOLSTER

  • COVER GARMENT FOR CONCEALMENT (FIRST DAY OF CLASS AND RANGE)

  • A MINIMUM OF THREE MAGAZINES AND MAGAZINE POUCHES OR SPEEDLOADERS AND POUCHES

STUDENTS WHO HAVE A VALID NEW YORK STATE PISTOL LICENSE BUT DO NOT OWN A FIREARM WILL BE PROVIDED A FIREARM, HOLSTER AND AMMUNITION FOR THE CLASS.  YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR PROVIDING THE FOLLOWING:

  • VALID NEW YORK STATE ISSUED ID (E.G. DRIVERS LICENSE)

  • VALID NEW YORK STATE PISTOL PERMIT

  • EYE PROTECTION-SUITABLE FOR THE RANGE

  • EAR PROTECTION-SUITABLE FOR THE RANGE

  • STURDY BELT FOR HOLSTER

  • COVER GARMENT FOR CONCEALMENT (FIRST DAY OF CLASS AND RANGE)

 

COFFEE, WATER, AND LIGHT SNACKS WILL BE PROVIDED.

 

ALL STUDENTS ARE ENCOURAGED TO BRING A LIGHT LUNCH, SNACK OR BEVERAGE WITH THEM.
